BUZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!

Zander's eyes flickered open at the sound of the alarm. With a grunt he reached over and disabled it.

He laid there staring at the ceiling for a moment waiting to wake up. After a few moment he gave up and rolled over and draping his arm over his wife's waist. Pulling himself closer to her he snuggled up fully intending to fall back into a blissful slumber, burrowing his head between a pillow and the nape of her neck.

"We must get up my love." Samthia prompted even though she made no attempt to do so.

"Don’t want to." Came Zander's muffled reply from deep with in the pillow.

Samthia pushed back closer to her husband cuddling even closer. "Neither do I." She smiled "But I am not tired either."

Zander's head lifted from the pillow as Samthia craned her neck to face him.

He smiled. "Gee, what are we to do about this situation?" He asked as he leaned in to kiss her.

=^= Later =^=

Zander, Samthia and their children sat around the table eating breakfast. Eggs, bacon, and fruit salad were the mainstays. Milk and orange juice provided the liquid refreshment for Samthia and the kids while Zander worked on consuming his third cup of coffee.

Zander checked his watch and sighed. Time to go to work.

He stood and kissed both of the children on their heads as he passed them. "Be good in day care you two. I do not want to hear about anymore unauthorized trips around the ship." He warned. Both children nodded sheepishly.

He was referring to a masterfully engineered escape from the clutches of the evil daycare center that allowed the twins to spend the better part of an hour exploring the corridors of the Sera. It was not until the end of naptime that the caretaker had realized they had gotten out. The ingenious tots had used balloons that they had taken from a project earlier in the day, inflated them and put them under their blankets to simulate sleeping children.

The doors for the day care center were setup not to auto open to prevent the kids from leaving the room. The controls are also set high and out of reach of the kids exploring hands. To overcome this obstacle they simply hid behind one of the play tables near the door and waiting for the second caretaker to leave for lunch sneaking out the door behind her.

While Zander had been amuse and somewhat proud of his boys the caretakers were not. Punishment was that the boys would have to forfeit their coloring time for one week at daycare. Zander's punishment for the boys was an hour earlier to bed and they were no longer allowed to watch their fathers old 20th century recording of the Three Stooges until further notice.

He made his way over to his wife and kissed her passionately goodbye. "You are better then any alarm clock." He whispered to her before heading out the door.

He made his way to the bridge where he relieved the ensign on duty at the tactical station. Once he finished rearranging the controls to his liking he reviewed the logs from the previous shift. There was nothing of any consequence and he signed off on the log and started to new one for his duty shift.

Commander Salvek was seated in the center chair as the captain was currently off of the bridge. Commander Blane was also on the bridge hovering near the Operations console. Zander wondered if the man ever slept as he always seemed to be on the bridge.

Just then his console beeped. He glanced down and frowned. The long range sensors detected an energy signature directly aft of them and traveling the same course.

"Commander Salvek, long range sensor are picking up a," Suddenly the signal disappeared. "signal?" His voice trailed off.

Salvek had turned in his chair to look at the tactical station. "You sound unsure lieutenant."

Zander shook his head as he stared to run a diagnostic of the ships sensors. "I'm sorry sir. For a moment the log range sensors showed an energy signature aft of our current position and moving along our course." He shrugged. "Now there is nothing there."

Salvek's eye brow raised in a typical Vulcan manner. "Was the computer able to identify the signature?"

Zander shook his head. "No sir there was not enough time, the signal was at the extreme end of our sensor range."

"It could be a sensor echo. Maybe the aft sensor package is out of alignment." Commander Blane offered.

"I'm running diagnostics right now sir." Zander explained.

Just then the console beeped with the results of the diagnostic routine. "It seems to be some contamination in the aft dorsal relay. The computer says it is only 88% efficient." Zander shrugged his shoulder again. "That could cause a false reading."

Salvek thought for a moment. "Very well. Notify engineering of the problem." He turned back to the forward viewscreen. "However please continue to report any anomalies."

"Aye sir."

By this time commander Blane had worked his way around the bridge to stand new to Zander.

"Yes continue to watch it cause it's not like anything unusual or unexpected ever happens to us." He grinned.

Zander smiled back.

"Aye to that sir."
