Hubbard went through the shipment of medical crates that had recently arrived.

Hypos galore and a wide assortment of exobiological materials. Jack lit up upon finding these items-it brought to mind his work on the colony, probably the most challenging work he'd done to date.

The final crate had an array of field testing supplies and anti-pathogens. "Worth your weight in gold," he said aloud.

One small package, tightly wrapped, remained.

He gave the manifest a quick look and saw that this item was not listed. "A gift," he joked, hoping it was another dermal regenerator.

He took sip of his coffee and began unwrapping the tiny package.

The weight was wrong...

Pulling off the last of the wrap he discovered a minute single holo emitter- the kind used for sending a holo and then it couldn't be replayed.

"Major letdown," he said aloud-he'd really been pulling for that micro regenerator. He turned the item over in his hand as he reached for his coffee. Inscribed on the side it said: USS Erasmus.

He set the item down and briefly wondered who would not be receiving a holo from a loved one.

That's when it struck him. What if it was something that had intended for Breaux?

What he didn't want on his new assignment was some type of ethical dilemma or something linking him to Avery Breax-it was obvious the crew harbored resemtment toward Breax and Hubbard didn't need to be found guilty by association because he'd served with Breaux on the Erasmus.

"Open the holo or turn it over to the Captain?" he asked himself aloud.

He thought about his time serving with Captain Angela Nolan-they were a tight knit bunch and had bent more than a few rules. He sat down and took a sip of his coffee, turning the object over In his other hand.

He thought about the quote on the dedication plaque of the Erasmus: 'Give light and the darkness will disappear of itself'...

He stared into his coffee cup.
