Zanh Liis had asked Ensign Tenney to hail Command, and ask for another ship to help evacuate the people from the Executor.

As she was speaking the order, TC Blane arched an eyebrow and he approached her.

“Captain, forgive me if I am reminding you of something rather obvious but,” he looked at her sideways, concerned by how distracted she was. “We have the entire Alchemy bay empty at the moment. We can fit everyone from the Executor in there with room to spare.”

Zanh clenched her eyes shut, unable to believe that she hadn’t realized this sooner. “You know, Mr. Blane, I keep forgetting she’s not there.” Zanh nodded. “Force fields are holding? Someone stole our garage door, you know.”

“They’re fine, but I’ll keep a watch.”

“Thank you, Thomas.” She thought to herself what a fine job Blane had done his first time out commanding the Alchemy, and she reminded herself to make mention of it to him later, when she got an appropriate moment alone with him.

As Zanh Liis paced, reports kept coming in with updates as to how the evacuation of the Executor was proceeding.

“We’ve got just about everyone from the ship, Captain,” Blakeslee announced. He had been receiving all the incoming reports from the transporter operators as they were arriving. “But the Admiral is still refusing to leave.”

Zanh slammed her fist against the arm of her chair. “Mr. Blane, I,” She paused, as Reece and Salvek returned to the bridge.

”Gentlemen?”

“Time will tell, Captain.” Salvek replied. Reece mutely took his station.

“Commander Salvek, I have to run an errand.”

“Captain?” Salvek approached her.

”Vox won’t transport. I’m going in to fetch him.”

”You can’t!”

”You cannot!”

Blane and Salvek spoke their objection in stereo.

“I’m sorry, but you’re both overruled. He won’t listen to anyone else, I might have a chance.” She tapped her badge. “Bridge to O’Sullivan. Grab Dane by the scruff of the neck and the two of you meet me in transporter room three.”

[Sir?]

“I’ll explain when we get there. Zanh out.”

Liis stared directly into Salvek’s eyes, unflinching despite the withering disapproval she found there. “Do not wait a moment too late to move this ship to safety, are we clear? That’s an order.”

“Aye, Sir.”

As Zanh disappeared into the lift, she called out one final command.

“You have the bridge, Commander Salvek.”

Jonas Vox stood alone before the view screen.

The screen was shielded, the intensity filters adjusted so that he could look upon the star ahead as it held his ship trapped.

As it held him trapped, with it.

The trio of officers from the Sera materialized behind him, and he heard the sound of their boots against the deck as they moved forward to approach him. He did not turn to face them, nor did he doubt who was leading them.

“I’m not leaving, Zanh Liis.”

“Yes, you are.” Zanh insisted, signaling for the two men with her to stay back as she took another step closer. “We’re leaving together.”

“I caused all of this to happen,” Vox replied softly. “Don’t you understand? I have inflicted such damage on the very project that I was entrusted oversight of. Alchemy is gone, Sera is in danger and your crew,” He hated to think about what had likely happened and any lives that may have been lost because he had chosen to use Zanh’s crew and their ships as bait to draw Special Ops out of the shadows. “I should have done it another way.”

“We can discuss this later,” Zanh took another step, and finally he turned toward her. “Aboard the Sera-“ her words were interrupted by the sound of her badge chirping.

[Captain, we have evacuated everyone from the Executor except those of you on the bridge.] Salvek informed her.

“Scan the ship one more time, Salvek. Are you absolutely certain that’s everyone?”

A moment later, Salvek’s voice was heard again. [Our sensors are failing, Captain. There is too much interference from the star.]

“Understood. Zanh out.” She strode closer to Vox and grabbed him by the arm. “Jonas, is there anyone else on the ship?”

“No.” He answered, “Wait,” He raised a finger in question. “Someone got Andraste out of the brig, didn’t they?”

Zanh questioned O’Sullivan with a glance. “We couldn’t get any readings that far down on the ship, Captain. If there is anyone in there, I don’t think Commander Salvek knows it.”

“Dane!” Zanh’s voice snapped Cristiane back to attention. He had been staring, speechless, at the fiery surface of Beta-626 as it drew them ever closer. “Get your ass down to the brig and get whoever is in there, out.”

“Are you,”

GO!” Zanh’s tone told him clearly that if he didn’t vanish from her sight, he would most likely be condemned to a hellish fate aboard the doomed Executor, whether the rest of them escaped that fate, or not.
