Zander and Samthia showed up at holodeck two dressed for a evening on the town and full of smiles.
He wore a black tuxedo and she wore a red dress with a low, very low, cut back and black high heels.
Zander wondered how women were able to walk in them but was happy that they could because his wife looked, for lack of a better term, hot.
“Are you sure you do not want to go to the lounge?” Sam asked as she hung tight to her husband's arm. He used his free arm to tap in commands to the computer.
Zander shook his head. “Oh, I am sure. You see if we go to the lounge there will be other people there and they might want to talk to us.” He smiled. “Not that I dislike anyone but I want to spend time with you. Only you.”
He finished putting in the parameters for the holoprogram and the arch door slid open with a hum.
Zander guided his wife through the arch and followed close behind. The door slid shut behind them and disappeared into the landscape.
They were bathed in the orange glow of a setting sun as a warm tropical breeze blew over them. Palm trees surrounded the red brick walkway that the couple stood on. Samthia smiled as she looked around at the surroundings. In the trees colorful tropical birds fluttered from perch to perch as they sang melodiously.
Zander nodded to his wife as she pulled herself closer to him. “This way.”
He led her down the path that wound through the palms. Every corner revealed other sights to be seen. Blooming tropical flowers surrounded the path laid out in well maintained gardens. Beautiful sculptures were strategically placed in locations that took advantage of the light of the setting sun casting long shadows though out the palm grove.
Finally at the end of the path they found a man dressed in a tuxedo standing next to a small podium.
He smiled warmly as he picked up two menus from a small slot on the side of the podium.
“Good evening Mr. Blakeslee. I have your table ready for you.” He stepped aside and waved his arm in a grandiose fashion. “This way please.”
Sam and Zander exchanged smiles and followed the host off of the brick path and onto a wooden board path that lead out of the palm groove and onto the beach. Tiki torches lit the path on all sides. The wooden path led to a small wood platform with a single table. The table was set with a cloth table skirt, fine silverware, crystal glasses, and two candles that flickered in the gentle breeze.
The sun had just begun to disappear into the sea and the shadows cast from the palms grew long in the fading orange light. The rhythmic crashing of the waves echoed in the background.
The host pulled out a chair for Samthia and she graciously took a seat. Zander sat down across the small table from her. The man left the menus and then departed.
“This is wonderful.” Sam stared as she glanced out across the water.
“All for you.”
Sam turned and stared at her husband. “I hope the kids are alright.”
Zander smiled and laughed. “I’m not worried about the kids. I hope that Commander Salvek is alright.”
She returned his laugh at the though of the Vulcan commander trying to logic his way around Thomas and Johannes. The boys was both rambunctious and intelligent- a combination that could be deadly to those who were not used to them.
Suddenly the host returned with a bottle of wine and began to pour the beverage into the available glasses. Once done he placed the bottle into the bucket of ice and stood waiting for their food order.
Zander smiled. “I think we should order.”
Sam simply nodded as she gracefully picked up the menu.
=Later=
Zander and Samthia slowly swayed to the music of the waves. They held each other close and tight. Dinner had been excellent and once finished they decided to walk on the beach; both had long forsaken their shoes to wade in the shallow surf.
The setting sun had since given way to the moon and stars who cast the beach in a silvery light. Now the husband and wife slowly danced to music that only they could hear, the roar of the surf the only sound.
Sam looked up at her husband and smiled.
They kissed lightly then more deeply and passionately. They pulled away only for a moment to stare into each other eyes. No words were needed to convey what they both felt or wanted. The empathic abilities that they shared with each other handled communication of their emotions flawlessly.
Zander scooped with wife up into his arms and she held tight to him with her head on his shoulder. He walked up onto the soft sand of the beach and slowly sank to his knees lying her gently onto the sand.
They both exchanged a smile with each other.
“Computer.” There was a familiar chirp. “Seal the door to holodeck two until further notice. Authorization Blakeslee beta four seven delta.”
