-=Years ago aboard the USS Erasmus=-

The Senior Officer's meeting had gone on for well over an hour, dissecting the Away Team mission just concluded.

There had been some quick thinking on the part of several of the team members as well as no shortage of violence. Fortunately the Erasmus crew members had returned the ship with their mission successful and no major injuries.

The meeting just concluded, Captain Nolan had dismissed those in attendance, but had asked her Engineering Chief and her Chief Medical Officer to remain behind.

"Your actions were commendable planet-side Doctor Hubbard, if not...a little unorthodox," commented Captain Nolan with a smile.

Hubbard turned in his chair slightly in order to face both Nolan and Breaux, "I only did what I thought was necessary-it was nothing really. As for bending the rules...I thought we'd lose some people if I didn't act the way I did."

Nolan nodded knowingly.

Breaux commented, "It's not unusual for Starfleet officers to have to...be creative at times."

Nolan nodded approvingly, "Yes. Sometimes convention impedes what needs to be done."

Hubbard knew something was afoot but he couldn't tell what this meeting was about or where they were headed with it. He knew that Breaux and Nolan were close, and Jack had forged a friendship with both, and had found them to be steadfast in their duties and supportive as friends.

Nolan had moved toward the replicator, "Anyone want coffee?"

Breaux raised a hand and smiled and Hubbard responded, "Yes thank you."

"Two creams, correct?"

Both men responded at the same time, "Yes."

Breaux laughed, "Great minds."

Nolan had the coffee and held up a hand indicating that she didn't need any help bringing them to the conference table. "Gentlemen, I asked you to stay as I had this report come across my desk on some small groups of Maquis movement. Residual groups, very small. In it there are some medical ramifications I'd like your opinion on Doctor."

She passed each of them a PADD.

She turned to Breaux, "And it seems that their groups have been pirating some systems from transport ships, you might want to take a look at them Mr. Breaux. We might be able to discern ion trails from their work and track them, but then you might not feel that will work. Please take a look at these reports gentlemen and report back to me in due time."

Both men nodded.

Nolan continued, "Now that we have that out of the way, gentlemen, as you know, we're scheduled to stop over in San Francisco. I have several meetings at Starfleet HQ. Jack, that's your hometown, can we expect that you'll show some of us your favorite haunts?"

Jack chuckled, "Certainly."

Nolan accentuated, "And we want the real tour...not the polite tour. We've been working hard...we need to let off some steam."

Hubbard nodded, "Oh ma'am, I can definitely show us the sights, local-style."

Nolan smiled, "Excellent. Well gentlemen, I hate to cut this short but I have a report to file."

The two men excused themselves.

Breaux stopped Hubbard in the corridor, "Jack...I've seen some other reports similar to this, if you have any questions, let me know." He smiled and continued on his way.

Hubbard nodded, looked at the report and then back to the closed door of the Conference Room.
